With more and more companies involved in social media, we look at how integrating social media into your pay monthly website can assist you in marketing your brand and business creating  good relationships with your customers.

According to statistics on Brandwatch, social networks earned an estimated $8.3 billion from advertising in 2015, with 38% of organizations planning to spend more than 20% of their total advertising budgets on social media channels in 2015, up from 13% in 2014.

Social media shouldn’t be a presence instead of a website, but an extension of your website incorporating the brand and theme. It is a great way of adding a more personal approach to your business relationships with your customers as well as using it as a free marketing tool. By integrating links and feeds to your website, it can assist your business in many ways…

It can be used as an extension of your overall marketing strategy, giving  you the opportunity to encourage visitors to share your content as well as helping to improve your site’s ranking, as social media profiles and activity are also included in search results.

1. Integrate Social Media Navigation Icons to your Website

Navigation icons should be positioned on the top, bottom, or side of your webpage to direct users straight to your social media page. This should open in a separate window, making sure that users remain on your website.  

Everyone recognises the social media icons; they are now so ingrained in our society. By adding these icons to your website, on your homepage for example, contact page, header or footer it is a clear way of showing that you are active on social media. Often these days, we prefer to message each other, rather than picking up the phone. Clicking through to a Facebook page or Twitter page allows another means for your customers to contact you and also gives you another platform to show what you do and what you can offer as a business. It is also considered a great way for customers to share their feelings and opinions about your brand. 

However, don’t get carried away - only include buttons for sites where you have an active presence and a good network of followers. 

2. Integrate Social Media Share Icons to your website

If you update your website with news, a blog or a new product range, by adding a social media “share” icon, you immediately increase your opportunity of raising awareness amongst your customers. Say you are a shoe company, and you have just released a new style; why not add the share icon; someone will see it, love it and share it on their own social media account. Then, in turn people from their network will see that post, and may also be interested in the product and visit your website or shop to purchase that item. 

By adding a simple share icon, you are already increasing your marketing opportunities - it doesn’t take much for posts to go viral through social media and is a great way to help increasing brand awareness. 

3. Integrate Social Media News Feeds to your website

Regularly updating your social media with what your company is doing, news, product information, events you are attending etc, keeps you in your followers newsfeeds as a reminder of your brand. By adding a social media newsfeed to your website, it is a great way of updating your website with new information and also gives visitors to your site another chance to engage with you on this platform. Social Media updates can be a chance to show another side of your business too. If you are getting involved in a charity event for example, or are running a competition, add this to your profile!

Having an active presence on one or more social media networks could contribute significantly to your marketing success. Making sure that you update with good content will give people the opportunity to interact with you - you may be surprised with how quickly your network grows.
