Why Video Marketing Is Important

play tvThe use of video marketing has been growing over the past few years and continues to constantly evolve becoming increasingly important. It is not the future of marketing, but very much the now, so it's helpful to understand why video marketing is important to you can learn how to include it within your marketing strategy. There are so many free video hosting sites out there now, including Vimeo, Vevo, dailymotion, flikr to name but a few. Not to mention the big players, VideoGoogle, VideoYahoo and of course YouTube, the largest video sharing forum with over 1.9 billion active users a month, it is the 2nd biggest social media network and the second largest search engine after Google. However social media channels such as Instagram which previously didn't focus on video have now put it at the forefront with features such as Instagram stories and their latest; IGTV.

This speaks volumes about what we are interested in seeing now as we search the Internet. And interestingly, as the social networking platforms battle it out in popularity, according to a report by socialbakers.com, Facebook is now in a position to overtake YouTube in video posts in the News Feed, and with over 1.3 billion active users, this is a significant change.

So, we know that video marketing is popular, but do we know why this is? It is actually really simple. We like to watch things! It is effortless to watch a video, that may contain the same information as an article; but how much easier and more engaging it is to see something visually, rather than scanning text. Visual communication in this way works so well; that’s why TV advertising is so costly, because it is often the most effective. Statistics show that only 10% of people on the Internet will read to the bottom of your article, whereas 40% will watch a video until the end. This gives you, as a company more time to show your target audience your message, brand, and offering. It has also been shown that 81% of companies used video marketing in 2017, which is up from 63% in the previous year.

There are three main reasons for making a video – to introduce a product, sell a product or service, or to create a subscription channel. If you create a subscription channel, whenever you post a new video, people who subscribe to your channel will be notified. This may then lead to further “shares” on other social networks, which in turn gets your message out there further. Whatever the objectives behind your video, it is worth knowing that search engines LOVE videos, and Google rates videos much higher than text!

Professional videos are no longer out of reach, and the price to get a video marketing agency involved in producing a top notch video to your specification is now far more affordable than it has been previously. However, with new technology in everyone’s hands now through mobile phones, tablets etc. it is not that difficult to produce your own video to a decent standard, and have some fun along the way. Especially when platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat & Musical.ly encourage you to record directly from your phone.

Videos are an excellent way of online advertising, promotion and brand awareness. They are fun and such a good way to position your company or product in an engaging way to your target audience.

According to Cisco, by 2019, video will account for 80% of all consumer Internet traffic! With this in mind, there is so much scope with video marketing, and the creative side of things means that you can really be as original, innovative, imaginative or as corporate as you like.

It is definitely worth jumping on this bandwagon!
