Responsive vs Non-Responsive Websites

responsive vsYou may remember in our April blog “Responsiveness” Affects Rankings, we told you about the new Google algorithm, whereby websites that are not mobile-optimised (responsive) will now be penalised on search engines. The design of a website will appear differently on a desktop than on a mobile device, and this is where a website that is responsive will alter the way it appears depending on what device it is being viewed on. 

With Ofcom’s recent publication of Communication Market Report 2015 they have reported that a third of Internet users use their smartphone as their first choice when searching the web, an increase from last years’ 22%!

With this in mind it is important to make sure that your website, is user-friendly across all devices.

As well as the obvious advantage of your search engine rankings not being affected negatively, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at the advantages that come with making your website responsive.

Alex is an enthusiastic and motivated young man and an impressive self-starter, creating his very own ecommerce business at the young age of 16, “Italian Delight”, where he sells high quality Italian chocolate. 

He recently graduated from the University of Buckingham, with a 2:1 in Business Enterprise where he learnt about everything from entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, sales, operations, e-business and many more topics. Wanting to speed up his degree and get into the workplace, dedicated Alex sacrificed his summer holidays in order to fast-track his degree, completing it in 2 years rather than 3!

The Future - Dot.Everyone

Working in the technology sector, is not the only reason why someone should embrace the changes of our modern day world. The sphere of the Internet is something that affects everyone in the western world, and beyond, and this was again brought to the fore in an informative and educational lecture from Martha Lane Fox recently aired in the Richard Dimbleby Lecture on the BBC.

Co-founder of, Martha Lane Fox, is not only a technological pioneer, promoting education and understanding around the Internet, but is taking this to another level, and has set up a petition on called Dot.Everyone, calling on the Prime Minister to embrace technology and the Internet, aspiring to make the UK “the most digital nation on the planet”, already achieveing 9,809 supporters. She has paved the way for women in business generally; in 1998 at the age of 25 and at the height of the Internet boom, battling gender stereotypes, and making a name for herself in the ever male-dominated business environment.
